Trying to trace the early history of an imsa 240z we have recently imported to the UK from America. The earliest history we have is an old SCCA log book, from about 1982/83 i think (hard to read the writing) owned then by Wally ?? (cant make out his surname) Then by the end of the 80’s and into the 90’s by a Dave Ogburn. The vendor we brought the car from told us it was built in the early 70’s by Smokey Yunick for IMSA and latterly SCCA and it has the number stamped on the roll cage what looks like SEC 22 or could be SEY 22 We are in the process of rebuilding the car and have found a lot of traces of yellow paint on the roof area, we have attached a photo of a yellow roofed datsun, that a lot of the details of the body/ roll cage fitments look the same?........and as we would like to restore the car back to how it originally raced in the early 70’s we are keen to find out its very early history, another confusing part is in the first page of the logbook its listing the colours of white/ red and blue, the blue has been crossed out??? If you have any info that could help us it would be greatly appreciated or any contacts that may help I have photos of the logbook, roll cage number etc but can't upload them on here. |
